About Brian Chan

 

Brian Chan is an artist and designer working with a range of traditional and modern media.

In origami, Brian Chan has won prizes in the MIT origami competition and the Japan Origami Academic Society competition for his work. His designs have been exhibited in several galleries including the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. In 2006 he was invited to Japan as the Yoshino Issei Fund special guest. Two years later he was invited as the special guest to the Spanish origami convention.

In addition to origami, Brian has more than 10 years of experience with bladesmithing and woodworking. Some of his past projects include a violin and a shamisen (the Japanese three-stringed fretless banjo).
